Consider/Approve Paper Bid for the 2009 - 2010 School Year


Preliminary Matters:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Howard D. Happy, Caldwell’s Office Supplies, Lanzer’s, RIS Paper Company, Office Services, and Learning House for the purchase of duplicating paper for the 2009 – 2010 school year, which is budgeted in the FY09 General Purpose School Fund. We received bids for this purchase as follows: Howard D. Happy – $26,123.20; Lanzer’s – $24,959.00; and RIS Paper Company – $24,073.10. All three (3) bids were very competitive and approximately $6,000+ less than the prior year; however, RIS Paper Company, of Uniontown, OH submitted the low bid. Caldwell’s Office Supplies submitted the low bid last year for $31,323.92. Caldwell’s Office Supplies did not submit a bid for the current year.

Staff Recommendation:

In accordance with Board Policy #2.806, which provides that “the lowest and best bid shall be accepted, I recommend approval of the bid submitted by RIS Paper Company for $24,073.10.
